DESCRIPTION:
The Citadel is a military installation that belongs to the Zhentilar. The Citadel is several fortresses linked together by tunnels and bridges along the Dragonspine Mountain range. At one time, long ago, the Citadel was occupied by the armies of many Moonsea cities in an alliance. At some point, Zhentil Keep broke the alliance, attacked the others, and took over the entire Citadel. Originally the Citadel is thought to have been a bandit stronghold and that there may still be loot in some of the many unused tunnels under the Citadel. Incidentally, although the Citadel no longer welcomes independent adventurers, it does occasionally hire mercenary groups for scout missions, among other things.
GOVERNMENT:
The Citadel is staffed by over 2,200 Zhentilar.
ROUTES:
The only two known routes to the Citadel are The Zhentilar Trail from the southeast or the Teshnost Trail coming from Teshwave in the southwest.
PEOPLE:
Outside of the Zhentilar, there are about 300 other residents cooks, servants, and shall we say, ladies of the evening. Lord Manshoon of the Black Network has rooms there, but mainly it is in the charge of two priests, one is a Strifelord of Cyric and the other is a crazed holy man of Tempus.
Kandar Milinal, hm F
Kandar is leader of the military of the Citadel of the Raven. He is brutally efficient and unswervingly loyal to the Zhentarim. He is a strict disciplinarian who uses harsh laws and edicts to keep the men in line.
Nhar-del, hm W
The shadowy Nhar-del is the highest authority on necromancy within the Zhentarim hierarchy. His research into undead creation is highly valued by Manshoon and has been employed for nefarious purposes. His rumored dark pact with an evil god has left him with a cold, clammy corpse-like complexion, forcing him to work covertly. Nhar-del is a resident of the Citadel of the Raven.
Zana Longmane, hf M
Zana is a recent addition to the Zhentarim, hailing from the war-ravaged lands of Tethyr. She has thrown her lot in the Zhentarim in the hope it would serve her ambitions. Currently, she operates from the Citadel of the Raven, taking her orders from Manshoon.
PLACES:
The Central Keep (where everyone gains access to the Citadel) has modest facilities to put up weary travelers for a night or two.
